Sye and factory Speedo gear

NAXJA Forum User
I recently bought a 99 xj with 4.88 gears and 35's. My Speedo is 10 mph fast, I looked up the chart and determined I needed a 39 tooth gear. When it came in, I realized there is no way to remove the gear on the case. All I have that's removable is the plug. I looked at a stock t case I have in the shop, and it has the retainer and could be easily swapped. Any suggestions on what to do next? Can I remove the tail housing and change it, or will I have to go a different route?

What t-case are we talking about?

Any pictures of what you have ? Is it still stock, or does it have an SYE ?

Then it should have a removable speed sensor that has the gear attached to it.

Host the pictures somewhere like imgur or fototime. Fototime will generate BB code that makes the picture show up here automatically.

Yes, you will need something like the Dakota converter for that.
