242 shifter. Can I....

Hey guys.
Im back with another terrible/might be just fine idea.


So like many other people. I bought the boostwerks 242 shifter kit.
My question.
I have to remove and drill the shifter arm.
Before I do this



Can One drive a cherokee with the shifter arm disconnected ?
will it slip out of 2wheel high ?


seems like a silly question Im just curious in case I could not get this finished in a few days. and its my primary transportation.
Also. Might be good to know in case it ever broke.

It should stay in 2HI no problem.

You can leave it off without worry. The range selector is held in place internally by a detent plunger with a spring that's mounted on the bottom of the case.
