88 Flexplate vs 96 Flexplate on Renix FI

Replacing the motor in my 88 MJ. The flexplate from the original motor is difficult to remove due to the motor being locked up....was trying to avoid removing the oil pan and dropping the crank to get to the flexplate bolts. I have a flexplate from a 96 XJ 4.0 automatic. I was wanting to know if I can use the newer flexplate and if it will work with the renix fuel injection system. The flexplates do look different however. I look forward to someone's comments.

Also you can pull the engine with the converter still on it.
