My jeep build with photos over the last few years.

Yeah I dont have a real computer and can't send vid from my camera to phone. Ohhwe locker.

I've been alittle distracted lately.

The xj is pretty much how I want it for now well except for leaf springs

So its time to build a tractor mill for the 76 Ford . The 300 makes about 100hp im hoping to be about 200 ounce its done
Then get to steering gearing and bumpers.
Block is currently at the shop im told im doing the piston fitting and zero decking the block. I of wich have no clue around any of the machines that do that stuff.

The engine stand is universal tool, fabbed from misc stuff

To the jeep. Ive been running cone filters a dry cleanable and k&n i do not like k&n or any filter that is oiled. The dry filter does seem to go longer before I feel I need to swap and clean.

If this ford 300 porting turns out well I might pull the head off thd parts jeep and see about sticking some burrs in it.
Im currently researching destroying valve(deshrowding) yes I can destroy them to easily

So ive gathered some intake box stuff and some materials to fab some stuff and swap to a filter that can likely flow more packed full of dirt than these dam cone things that I swap every couple weeks well unless I stay on the street

No idea if porting and deshrouding does much of does anything good in most situations, but I did my Jeep head. I didn't really deshroud the valves so much we I just smoothed out the chamber and didn't go lightly on the areas against the wall by the valves. I use the carbide burrs also. I do that and then get some stone drums and then sanding drums.
From what I've gathered the bowl and valve stem are the key areas. I don't know either way.

Those areas are scarey. Im researching pictures trying decide what im going to do if anything.
About all ive done that might be beneficial is making a straight line through intake to valve. Ok a straighter line

I've spent alittle time staring through the intakes tonight and done whats probably meaningless grinding on the exhaust

I have a little "dust cover" sleeve do dad on my amzoil cone airfilter. Might be what you need to keep your cone filter alive?
Works pretty good imo

Yeah I've ran outers wear on filters in the passrd

Maybe ill get one for the jeep

I used to be a K&N dealer but I won't run one!

K&n has theyre place just i havent figured out where. Not on diesels but maybe on street rigs that dont move much air

This is what im dreaming up. This is the smaller version of the filter I run on my cummins.
Outers wear makes a sock for these. But id imagine this flows more plugged full of moon dust then the clean cone filters
The 3-4" adapter i bought off ebay is aluminum ive got to give the tube a 22deg or so kick to line filter up and be able shut hood.

Quick easy project well if it wasn't for aluminum that im not set up to weld

Haha yes

Rescued some people today. This is flash flooding. Jeep was able to get out but Barrely left the utv

This trail is gone in the creek in its wide points is normally maybe 20ft
This evening it was 80-100 jeep had water coming through doors and pushing floating logs out of its way.

One section of the trail was gone with mud silt and rocks washed into it. Took about an hour to go 300yds.

Will possibly go back for utv tomorrow rain is supposed to stop at about 2am

First picture is where the utv is left its on a ridge line away from the creek hopefully safe.

I was pleased with how the bumper bars keep branches off head lights

Tomorrow will be an adventure my favorite trail is getting technical

Apparently this jeep chooses when its time for upgrades. Next time she drives she'll have shiny new to her wj knuckles.

Ran that ripped tire. For 10 -15 miles on the rear. Little beast just goes anywhere

It was one of those days where you shake your head going how did that happen. And then the thought goes through my head hope the brake line did rip off.

My favorite trail is badges now. Not many know of it. Its now a fun trail the flash floods moved the creek and made some awesome crossings.

Might have some vid from this later on this week

At this point it may be cheaper to press on with my ford. Pistons in route finish machine work on block and keep rolling

This is stub broke inside the grizzly.
Does not appear the 30 is going to hold up would chromoly shafts hold up to the grizzly. This weekend virtually torevthis axle up around the grizzly.
Will work on removing stub from grizzly and go from there I've made a phone call on a 70s ford hp44 to.
Would do 5.38 gear and Detroit/grizzly same in the rear.

Possibly just park her for awhile

Go RCVs if you’re upgrading a Dana 30. It’s the best you can do without putting in a better axle.

I've been researching d30 with chromo stuff before I make a decision. I'm not sure I've read about a ring and pinion failure Gordo did yours give up.
My 4.88 has already outlasted its expected life span it seems atheist according to naxj were very few even run 4.88 do to be worried of breakage or just because not that many run 4.88 or even regeard xj in general.

I'm very torn, could just leave it on jack stands for the rest of the summer

89mock.
I'd love to but I'm not putting that kinda money into the 30. Haha I said that before gears and grizzly

Shafts where an easy fix before i swapped in chromos. Then three ring gear sets and i was over it. I swapped in jk44s with 35 spline front and rear. In three years ive popped two ujoints and thats i.
