The thing that I don't like about that skid plate is that it actually bolts to the transfer case itself. Most other t-case skids bolt to the frame rails and/or crossmember.

I think the big concern is that since the skid bolts up TO the t-case, setting the weight of the Jeep onto the skid can put the weight of the skid onto the aluminum t-case. Skids that bolt to the crossmember and framerail don't put stress on the t-case mounting.
