swapping 87 4.0l out to 4.0 HO questions

I have a 87 which is blowing smoke and oil out the intake like there's no tomorrow.
Got a line on a 91-92 HO. I've heard about issues with the computer for the motor controlling the AW4 in some years.

Anyone have any info? tried search but didn't find anything.

Just drop the HO long block into your Jeep and use all the existing ancillaries from your '87. Then you won't have any issues at all.

Thanks dyno. So the only other change would be the cooling...either swap in a newer rad or put in a makeshift cooler cap.

I had read here a while ago that the different years had different computer responsibilities. i.e new trans had an integrated computer whereas the older trans had their own computer. Anyone remember that link? I couldn't find it.
