Williams V. Gubbins is finally drawing to a close. This case concerns the 468 miles of roads and trails that the BLM closed in the San Rafael Swell. The Muddy Creek, Junes Bottom, Segers Hole, and the Purple trail are just a few examples of the access that was lost.

Attorney Curtis Kimble will give oral arguments in favor of our land use rights. It will be important for the judge to see that the OHV community supports this effort. Up to now it's been just briefs and motions. The oral argument phase gives the judge a chance to see the human element of his eventual decision. In addition, Curtis will feel more confident if he has a cadre of support in the gallery.

This will be the final phase in the case which will decided soon after. If we lose, then this flawed and biased travel plan will be set in stone.

YOU are invited to attend the proceedings if at all possible. Let the judge know that there is a large constituency for access in Utah.

LOCATION: Salt Lake Federal Courts Building. Corner of 4th South and Main Street in Salt Lake City.

DATE AND TIME: Wednesday, July 18, at 3 pm.

Any way to submit written comments for those of us that live out of state?

No they aren't accepting comments, we're just trying to rally a big group to give support to the attorney and let the judge know that the OHV community is involved.

You mean in person?

Sorry to hear the turn out wasn't there to show support for what we love to do. We are under seige here in the Sierra Nevada's (Sierra Chapter)
Eldorado National Forest
They're chopping off spurs, alt. routs, vista points, and many primative camp sites. But I don't think it has to happen if we show enough support and send in enough comments during 45 day period that started 7/20.
Several meetings here soon to learn how to defend our vast trail system

I know this is a little late to post (3 weeks after the fact) but just thought Id chime in, BLM is doing the same dang thing here in las vegas and clark county. they just shut down one of the best off roading spots here in the vegas valley out by the run off near wagon wheel rd. not even the best rock crawling xj could get back there now, besides they got armed guards everywhere :( THOSE BASTICHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
