Rear door glass

Looking for the small window for a 97+ door.



Ya got the roll up window and then ya got the small one, im looking for the small one.





Havent contacted an automotive glass company yet.



Cant find it on the world wide web, might not even be searching correctly.





Drivers rear door.





Any pointers?

Uh, odd, that came right up for me. Search for part 55000701 on Rockauto. That's the rear driver side quarter window glass. Mopar is out of course, but Rockauto has "various manufacturers" p/n DQ06608N availability in all the glass shades. Recently had to replace my liftgate heated glass with the same and it worked great.

That isnt the glass i am looking for though.



I am looking for the small door glass on the rear drivers door.

Not looking for the big quarter glass window. That is what your part number leads me to.

Glass immediately above the rear door handle is what i am after.

Ah, gotcha. Let me dig a bit more in the part manual.

Yeah, that's tougher. Apparently its one of two things:


55235563: "Privacy" left
or 55235565: "Tinted" left (tinted I think is the generally clear green that my xj has).


Both seem to be hard to find at a quick glance.

Jeep uses the terms Tinted and Privacy. Now we hear Tinted and you think it is tinted. Darker. IMO it is not. My understanding is that all it means is that the glass has some UV protection. Now Privacy is tinted. So first you need to determine which you have. I think on Ebay many sellers refer to it has rear door vent glass.

So a couple of Ebay listing that I think apply. I believe the first two to be Privacy (tinted) glass and the third to be Tinted (regular) glass. I would contact them and get pictures to be sure.

Couple more things. I switched out my Tinted glass in my '00 for Privacy glass so I have a little insight into this.

Notice the long piece running down the side. Now I have seen people selling just the glass without that. I never really looked closely at it but I have no idea how you would take the glass off and put it on that. Better to get the whole thing.

Also they have a tendency to rust out at the very bottom for a couple inches. I don't think it is that big a deal but....

Also lots of times I will see listings on Ebay for things and they say will fit '84 to '01. When it comes to the glass I am not so sure about that. I can't say one way or the other but it it were me I would buy this glass from a '97 to '01.

Row 52 is a useful website for searching for parts at the wrecker. enter your location, and mile radius you desire for the wrecker, then enter the make model and year range. I think all the xj year models used the same glass on that location. note tint may differ.

So the new glass he is holding in his hand at the beginning of the video looks like Privacy glass to me. Assuming your Jeep is stock, no aftermarket tints, if you have privacy glass you will be able to see inside the Jeep through your front door windows easier then the rest.

Just want to make sure that you get matching glass. And I mentioned before I would stick with one from a '97 to '01 just to be sure. Even though it would not surprise me that one from any Jeep would work.

Im aware of all of that.



Ive got that part undercontrol, just working on tracking down the glass.

I have a friend with multiple parts donors, just need to get with him and go take a look.
