Changed my oil today. Felt good. I love changing my oil. Fresh Mobil 1 10w30 on sale at Wally World.
Used a Purolator Pure One filter. Seems to hold very good oil pressure. Comparable to my old Mobil 1 filter. Built well too.
Just trying to post a happy post on here.
Thanks

just changed mine a week ago...............i use the same chowder. I just switched to the synths and couldn't believe how much it quieted my engine down, amazing!

Where did you find the Purolator Pure One oil filter? I looked for it and couldn't find it anywhere.

Also ... what price did you pay for the Mobil 1 10-30 at walmart?

5 quarts at Wally Mart was 20.97 and I bought the 6th quart for 3.37.
I got the Pure One at Advance Auto parts/Parts America.
Almost bought the K&N, but for 12 bucks I just couldn't do it.
I run the Pure One on my mint 81 VW as well. Instant oil pressure on that car, so I thought I'd try it on the XJ.
Been running synthetic since 70k miles. Truck now has 97k on it. Its a 98' Sport. Put a set of new Cooper ATR's on it last Oct. Love those too.
I also have a vacuum pump tool as well, So I quickly flushed out a little over 3 quarts of tranny fluid and replaced that as well during this last oil change. I do that at every oil change anyway.
I run Valvoline DuraBlend in the wifes 98 Escort Wagon with a Pure One filter too. Never a single problem with that car. Only has 90k on it, but that thing is reliable as a swiss watch.

Should be. Considering they are the same oil filters.

Both products of Arvin-Meritor, almost identical part numbers.

They are good ones though.

I used to change the wifes long gone 96 Explorer with the Wal mart stuff.
20w50 supertech with their filter as well. Cheap oil change.
The heavier weight kept the engine quieter as well. The thing had 160k hard miles on it.

I've been using Mobil synth since I bought my 2000 xj 2 and half years ago. Anyone ever try the oil called Purple? I have a couple of other Jeep friends who swear buy it.

I change mine every 2 months for cheap insurance.

6 qts and filter $9 (WalMart SuperTech)

This man knows what's up. $30+ for an oil change on a JEEP?!?!? Maybe if you're having a shop do it, but pay that to do it yourself? That's just nuts IMO.

I use the cheap stuff too. So far, I've got a Pontiac at 210k miles on the cheap stuff, and many other cars too.

I do the $25 worth of Wal-Mart Mobil1... but only do it every 6k with a midterm filter change. $30 for "two changes". Aka, about the same cost as dino juice these days....

where in ct you at? walmart in newington is $36/6qt

Mobil-1 has like 12 different grades or types now, used to be grey 0W, green 10W, red 20W then they added yellow truck type and a bunch of others. Walmart usually carries the 10W30 green top 5 guarts for like $19 and sometimes it's on sale for $17 at which point if I'm lucky I grab 5 or 6 of them, or more.

As long as it has the star on the label its not going to be bad oil. The gov. standards are set pretty high. Obviosly some are still better than others, but as long as it has the star on the label its not going to be bad oil. If its synthetic then thats a plus too.
