Jeep is throwing code P0443. Nifty Autozone printout lists the probable causes:

  • Purge or vent solenoid defective
  • Check connector & wiring
  • Fuel saturated vapor canister
  • Failed EVAP vent solenoid
where is this solenoid at?

Did you replace it? Could you hear clicking before replacement? Mine is clicking, no CEL codes though. It seems consensus is only replacement if your throwing codes, like you, or clicking gets to be annoying.

The clicking means it is doing its job. If it really bugs you, then you could try and remount it with some material between it and the firewall to try and deaden the sound.

Good luck.

On the newer Lexus' they have these little foam cases that go overtop of the secondary fuel pumps. They're mounted by the firewall as well, and are loud as HELL. If you leave one of the cases off, you can definitely tell sitting inside the vehicle.

Just thinking out loud here... What if you made your own? Cover the solenoid in grease, spray it with some great stuff or DAP foam sealant, and let it harden into a ball. Then cut the ball in half so you can separate it. After it's dry shape it however you want...
