What size Lb. winch are you running on your XJ????

warn 8000 with multi mount.

There was a great debate on size/type winch recently on this forum. Try doing a search to find it. There was a lot of interesting info and opinions. Good luck.

BTW........Warn 8000 here

Warn 9000x

can you post a link to this big debate?
I was not able to find anything
Searched for
winch
winch size
winch lb
winch type
Did not come up with anything

I got the Mile Marker 8000E. I like it! Saved me lots of times...

Is there any draw back to putting a bigger winch then needed on the front? Here is why I ask. I would like to have an interchangable winch between a 2500HD pickup and my XJ on a multi-mount. My concern in the uni-body on the XJ if I put a 12000 pd winch on it.

I have the Warn HS9500i on my XJ. Do to my poor judgement I have had to use it 5 times over the last 1.5 years. The reason I went with this unit was the line speed. I wanted a faster winch line speed than what was offered with the other models. The load rating wasn't nearly as important to me as I carry two snatch blocks with me as well as an extra 100 feet of synthetic line to increase the pulling power and reach as necessary. The extra 100' length of 3/8th's synthetic came in real handy on a roll over recently. Another offroad buddy commented that he was going to have to do the same with his. This only cost me around 100 bucks as I spliced it myself from Amsteel Blue.

warn 8274

synthetic cable.

the debate starts when someone disagrees with the following statement:

"don't go any less than an 8000 pound winch on an xj"......

Warn HS9500i, fast. I like.

just an 'FYI', I had problems with my planetary gears in my winch, called warn, no questions asked they sent me the repalcement parts and a call tag for the broke parts no cost, try to get that service from another company.

Fore "go Warn or go home" Wheeler

Beez, to take what you said one step further... I ran a ramsey REP6000 on my '99....went through 2 solenoid packs and smoked it several times....even using a snatchblock (actually had it permanently mounted on the line.

I ran it because it was free...still not worth it.

Though not installed yet I've got a Ramsey REP8000 sitting in my garge waitng to be put on(still haven't decided what I want to do with the front bumper just yet). As for the snatch blocks as AmEx always says "Don't leave home without it"

Warn M8000. I've never felt I needed any more than that.

....now that's being secure with your manhood.... :)

Me, I have a HS9500i. It was either that or Viagra. :(

Can't compare it to anything else, it's all I've had. Some may not like the line speed, but that's just because they're slow. :) But I like it!!
