I don't know, it makes complete sense, it's not like Mars would even have erosion to shape a stone. Sheesh!

Stupid tendency of humans... Anything that remotely like a face or sliouhete is obviously an alien/ghost/angel/cthulu...
 
Maybe it's the fossilized remains of a pet rock?
