Pitman Arm bushing?

Changed the pitman arm out last night for a DPA, and noticed that there is a rubber bushing on the the box slides up and down slightly on the pitman shaft.

In other words, when I got to it - the bushing had slid down the thicker splined portion of the shaft and was resting on top of the pitman arm. I stuffed it back into the box opening, but I'm sure it will come out again.

There's enough there to keep junk from entering the box, but dunno if this will impact the life of the bearing, etc.

Any thoughts?

Re: Pitman Arm bushing?

Here’s the part you’re looking for:

GM Genuine Parts 26000985 Pitman Arm Boot

https://a.co/d/23oMxZV

Amazon says it won’t fit but it does. It tapers a bit and I found that sliding up the smaller side first works best. Remember to slather some grease up in there.

Re: Pitman Arm bushing?

You mean to tell me you've never necrobumped a thread? Besides, at least there's a part # now.

It’s not for him. I’m sure he figured it out by now. It’s for others searching like I was.
