Re: RENIX Data Logger

Right.
Injectors are PWM driven, so, the battery voltage is taken into account in order
to have right injectors timings.

From my side it's strange the 5V reading on the battery...

Today I'll try by using a different and powerful laptop (now is a Celeron 1.2GHz with 512 Mb of RAM).

"the battery voltage is taken into account in order

Nonsense, the Injectors are either fully open or closed. I know they can open with 9 V from a 9V battery.

Where and when are you reading 5 Volts? The ECU supplies 5 Volts to the O2 sensor on Renix, and the O2 sensor is a variable resistor. Resistance varies based on O2 concentration gradient between Exhaust O2 concentration and the external O2 concentration.

12 volts is plenty for the O2 heater.

Re: RENIX Data Logger

If the ECU is trying to maintain the idle and closed loop, and there is a fuel pressure or IAC-idle air or vacuum leak issue, the ECU may be switching to open loop at idle?

Re: RENIX Data Logger

The PWM only controls the open time. The injectors fully open if there is enough voltage to open the solenoids.

Re: RENIX Data Logger

the voltage reading may change the dwell time on the ignition coil. so it could be slowly burning out the coil by charging it longer than needed.

Nope, Ignition coils, at least the old style like the ones used on the XJ, are fully charged at full voltage, there is no dwell time on the coil charging side.

Did I miss part of the conversation earlier?

Re: RENIX Data Logger

Only a question.

The baud rate of COM port should be 9600?

Because if I'm not wrong, RENIX baud rate is 62500...

Lucio.

Re: RENIX Data Logger

you cant select 62500 on a com port. so the software might be doing some adjustments

Re: RENIX Data Logger

OK, so 9600 on com port.

Another question.

Why pin no.8 (sensor ground)?

If I'm not wrong, also pin no.7 (ground) can be used instead no.8

Right?

Re: RENIX Data Logger

i think pin 8 grounds at the ecu. vs grounding at the battery. they both should work.

Re: RENIX Data Logger

IT WORKS.

I'm using pin no.7 (Ignition Ground) on D2 connector instead of pin no.8 (sensor ground).

At the same time, I also connect to Ground (Ignition Ground) the cable shielding (the cable is the one used for home alarm, and has shielding).

I'll update you soon.

I've to check the reason of <5V on BATT VOLTAGE on the software.

Work in progress...

Re: RENIX Data Logger

sorry for spamming, i solved problem.. problem was (for me) bad labeled button Save File in ViewLog app, mean start record, also, first click on "save file" that begin recording data, again click on save file or close. Better would be label on button Save File, "Start Record".
... I post here link my bad o2 sensor or air leak (o2 sensor not oscilating) and link to scheme and board in Eagle for rs232 interface
