That would depend on the muffler, they are all built different. I have built a muffler, what are you wanting to lnow?

Not all mufflers even have a "baffle"! Exhaust is about flow but a "muffler" is about sound wave diffusion.

You want to talk about sound control I'm into gun suppressors and that's really a trick to have one that doesnt make any sound!

Another example is turbo vehicles, they dont require a muffler!

My wife would say otherwise. My Evo is pretty loud, even with a very long louvred resonator and a pretty large perforated tube straight-through oval muffler.

I'm interested in this thread too. My muffler is still stock, but I don't fancy cutting it open until I need to.

That's almost the same as a typical "turbo style" arrangement except it appears to have a baffle/cancellation plate. I'm really curious to see if the stock muffler is similarly arranged.
