Serpentine Trick? 92 xj

92, XJ, wanting to replace serpentine belt.

I have loosened the 5 bolts on the power steering and screwed out the adjuster screw at the bottom of the power steering unit.

But belt does not release.

What am I missing?

The adjuster is supposed to release the tension off the belt

You have to loosen the bolt that holds the idler pulley.

Did you loosen the bolt that clamps the adjuster?

On my Renix, I still have to push hard on the PS pump.
