Stupid question about axles

I have an 87 XJ 4.0. How do I tell if I have a Dana35 or Dana44 rear axle?

Re: Stupid question about axles

good deal on getting the D44 axle... are you planning to regear? or just want to add a traction aid? for a new limited slip carier i think i'd choose the one from Auburn Gear.. if you just want to add a traction aid without the hassle of regearing, i would chose a power-trax or lock-right to fit inside your existing carrier...

Re: Stupid question about axles

Check out Randy's Ring & Pinion. They have quite a bit of good information on their web site.
