Ignition getting stuck

I have been haveing this problem recently. I put the key in the ignition go to start it, but it won't turn. Usually after taking the key ouy and reinserting several times it will finally turn. question, what is the possible cause(s) and fix(s)? thanks in advance

Are you sure it's just not the steering wheel lock. This happens to me often. Next time it happens just wiggle your steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key. Thats the only thing that I can think of.

tried and still acting up. What I have found to work is turning the key counter clockwise

Key is worn.

Key cylinder is worn.

Ignition switch is worn.

Park Lock cable is out of adjustment.

Nasty little XJ gremlins are messing with you.
