I have a 98 XJ 4.0 4wd.
The airbag light stays on the whole time and when I scanned the srs, it gave me a "Loss of Ignition-Run only" code.
I tried searching the forum and googling but I get no where with it.
Anyone have any ideas where to start looking?
Thank you.

No it doesn't . I thought it might be the clock spring but I switched that out and horn still doesn't work

That is what I was leaning towards.
Used or new clockspring?
If used were the wheels straight when pulled from the donor?
Did you lose position of the clockspring before you put it in?
Clocksprings are centered.
Just can't pull one and slap it in.
Were the wheels straight when you put it in?

Ya I found a post that went over re centering and re installing it so I followed that post . Had my wheels straight and centered the CS before installing

I put cruise control in my '00 XJ that did not come with it.
I had to do the recentering procedure on the clockspring.
Despite that it lasted a week and then the air bag light came on.
Put in another one and been good for quite sometime now.

So here is the thing. Guessing used. You sure it was good?
You can check a clockspring for continuity with a meter.
I kinda scoff parts when the opportunity presents itself.
So when I did the cruise I had the set up I put in plus 2 more.
So when the first clockspring went bad. I pulled another one.
Which also appeared to be bad. The third one was good.
My point being that by checking with a meter I was able to get a beep for continuity on one of them.
Checking the same terminals on the other two and not getting the beep gave me the impression that they were NG.
Problem is I can't remember exactly where I checked.

All indications is that it sounds like a clock spring issue.
I'd see if you could get a new one if possible then follow installation instructions.
Then take it from there.
