D30 Breather ???

Broke mine off right at the diff, (plastic peice is still inside) is this a common problem or a common fix? Haven't really tore into it yet. Was waiting to see how others might have made it better or fixed it.

Replace with OEM part or tap the axle housing and use a brass fitting.
