Newbie looking for RHD power steering upgrades

Hello all. If this has been answered please point me in the right direction. I have been looking reading and watching. I have found answers but not for my situation. I have recently started working for the USPS and have acquired a 2000 XJ right hand drive for my route. The steering sucks horribly and I want to upgrade this. I bought a cheap reman from autozone as my other was leaking bad. I just needed a quick fix until I get all my parts for a main fix. My problem lies in the gear box. I have read about doing a 99 Durango swap but I cannot find if this box will bolt up to my right hand drive. I wasn't sure if the bolt layout will be the same on the RHD. I know the pump is the same and the lines are different, but the gear box eludes me. I wish I had time just to pull it and go from there, but one day off a week do leave me much time to do this. Thanks again in advance.

I have been looking at RHD info for other reasons. Mainly, what side is the auxiliary fan on?
Any ways, mines a LHD and on 31's and a stock gear box. If your gear box is properly adjusted, then it should be OK. I'd look elsewhere for issues. Still, the rebuilds from the Box stores are not the best. I do have one on a 98 lifted with originally 31's, now 32.5s tires. It did losen up in a year or so.
So, I think other 'upgrades' might help. Or just basic maintenance. Ball joints, Tie rod ends, Hub Bearings.
I might check out Kevin's Off-Road for stuff. Also, see about a gear box spacer. Possibly Ironman 4X4 Off-road might have one for a RHD. He does have some RHD items.

I didn't see any RHD stuff. Still might contact them.

OK, try IRO:

Not sure if you would need this or not:

Edit: if you have your original gear box, I'd look at Red Top or Blue Top to rebuild it. Some say the Lares rebuilt gear boxes are OK. I don't know if they made RHD YJ's. I think I read they are a bit heavy Duty. Same box on a Full Size Grand Cherokee. Don't know if they were RHD. Also, a Power Steering pump from a WJ might help. I think the V-8 ones are suppose to be the better ones. I do have a WJ P/S pump on an XJ. I think from a 4.0L WJ. It did seem better.

Edit: again. Might look into 'The Cure'. No not the band, and the guy with the bunny suite. Yeah, mega weird. but this:

Also, look at the steering shaft. Sometimes they go bad. Turn the steering wheel side to side. See how much turn till the it gets the gear box to turn.

Also, on IRO site:

I do have one for a LHD. I have not installed it. I bought it from one of the other members here. He went with another setup. I have Ruffstuffs crossover steering on two of my XJs. I really like it. I also, have the WJ big brake setup. To that allowed me to do the cross over steering. An extra arm on the Right side knuckle.

Looks like there were WJs with RHD:

So, the WJ Big Brake might be a possibility.

I am an rca and have a 96 rhd. Good luck finding much of anything, and anything you do find will be insane expensive. A lhd steering box will not fit. The mounting holes are on the wrong side. My whole system was going bad so I switched it out for a manual steering box out of a DJ5 postal jeep. The box was a bolt in application, but you have to use a 4 inch drop pitman arm for a cj and change the clock spring to one out of a zj. Steering effort is very high, compared to a vehicle designed for manual steering so I don't really recommend it for everyone. Fix your power if you can, but most likely you are going to have to send the sector of to be rebuilt. BTW, lhd stuff can be adapted for lots of other parts. I have a lhd radiator and lhd e fan mounted in the rhd spot.

Rock Auto has a listing for RHD gear boxes. I also use Car-Parts Inc. to search for items. Sometimes it will list to RHD on parts.
I am wondering what side the RHD electric Auxiliary fan is on?

The aux is on the right, mech on the left. The bracket with the mechanical fan mount is discontinued and the rhd aux fan is $350 last I checked. That's why I have a lhd aux fan adapted to mine.

Thanks, I plan to run electric fans. I do have the setup for the SPAL fans. I want to try and do a factory LHD, RHD and a middle fan of some sort. I here the factory fans make a bit more CFM than the SPAL 10".
Also, does the RHD accessory belt system have an automictic tensioner? The WJ set up does. I want to see what is adaptable from the 4.0L setups.

Yes the right hand has a spring tensioner, I think it is direct bolt on where the lhd ac compressor goes. Rhd compressor is down low under the power steering pump.

Hmm, interesting. Sort of like the WJ's setup. Also, I think there is a write here on NAXJA to use the ZJ's right side of the setup. Suppose to raise the alternator up 5 inches. I was looking at that to use a 135 amp or even a 160 amp alternator.
Also, I did not want to belittle your point of parts scarcity or $$$ for RHD vehicles.

Yeah Crown makes a RHD gear box. It comes in at $999.99. https://www.quadratec.com/products/56112_0011.htm There is one of my neighborhoods that has 12 Cul-d-cacs and 2 u turns. It is a fight getting around these especially when there are cars parked around.
