Re: 2000 TB / Intake to 1988 Renix XJ
I don't think he can use the 2000 TB but I could be wrong. I can't remember if it was 2000 or 2001 that the TB was changed. Different sensors.
Its early...I may be thinking of the 2003 rubicon. The TB was a different setup, different sensors, different cabling. End result...a TB from 92-99 will work on an 88 easily. Just adapt the TPS spacer. All other sensors bolt up. |

Re: 2000 TB / Intake to 1988 Renix XJ
To make this swap work you will also need from a H.O.;
1.Power steering bracket w/ tensioner 2.96+ XJ Power steering pump 3.H.O. Throttle cable 4.H.O. Fuel rail 5.Air box to TB hose You will also need to extend the fuel lines and fabricate the Renix-H.O. TPS adapter. To get the most out of this swap you will also want the H.O. cylinder head. Whether or not your renix is got piston slap (mine did, bad) you may as well just get a whole motor from the U pull it yard from a 96+ and drop in. |

5-90 : ! Thanks for the Intro. !
90PioSport99 : I'm on page 5 of your 34 pages of threads - Primo Site. I'll find a 7120 '93 head somewhere for this 1982 Eagle 2dr. Sedan project. Bouncy : I'll research the Throttle Bodies & get the best 'Yardage' - how about something from a FORD or Nippon - ? summitlt : It's easier to identify when nothing else matches ! Slo-Sho : My 1989 XJ 5spd. 175K Renix has - no piston slap yet ! This Eagle 2dr. Sedan has a 258 with a rebuilt trans and a 50K 258 parts car. I have an '88 Cherokee ECM / TCM / Intake etc. and a harness 'cut cleanly' at the firewall in the parts box - along with an AW4 bell housing in case I don't like the wider Torqueflite gearing. Also have an '84 4spd stick Eagle parts wagon. I'd like a serpentine belt system - A Renix exhaust header is needed for the exit path in Eagles. Has anyone laid out how to sort out a Harness for Renix EFi conversion ? I could yank the powertrain & swap in a '96 Up, but the 258 is healthy + I have a 50k 258 + the orig. Torqueflite is 'Fresh' + I like and want a ReniX EFi system - so it seems I'm in for the full Tour! ......... more weekend reading Ahead...... thanks gents ! |
