my "interesting" day at work yesterday

Since this was amusing.....and whatever else you'd like to call it, I figured I would relate what happened at work yesterday.

I was tasked out to be my unit's range "NCO", so from roughly 6am till about quarter after 1 yesterday I was out being my unit's range "nco". I got our last guys off the range, went back to our battalion HQ, had some lunch, and then ran another errand across post.

Upon my arrival back to our HQ, I walk through the front door and start this other task of painting over the ink pots scattered through the main hallway area (someone thought it'd be funny to fling a broke ink pen everywhere, apparently), when a spouse of a deployed soldier came barging through the door and started yelling and screaming at our family readiness support advisor guy. She is being adamant bout speaking to our rear detachment commander, and is being increasingly rude and irate. Couple minutes later, lo and behold, who shows up but the MP's? She goes barging out the front door, 4 MP's in tow. Couple minutes later, she reenters our area in handcuffs and being flanked by an MP on each side, and placed into a squad car.

Her son and some friend of hers are now stranded at our unit...and being as i'm an NCO...guess what my next tasking is? I get to take these other 2 lovely pillars of our society back to a residence in Oak Grove thats not in the best part of town......and the MP's know that the woman in custody has been a former meth head....oh even more joyous.

So myself and another soldier escort the "friend" and the screaming 2 year old home, and haul back to BN.....a lovely interesting day in the life of a rear detachment soldier.

oh it was quite interesting. today should be just as much fun. I'm halfway waiting to see if she returns

Wow!

You lost me at NCO

You know the new stuff they built out at Gate 10 (2nd BCT area)? I hear that they started moving in the single soldiers to the barracks and they kicked in about 30 of the doors in their barracks area.

Turns out, those doors+installation are like $600 a piece. The Brigade Commander moved the whole lot of them back to their old barracks and moved in a bunch of other soldiers (159th?).

nope didnt hear that. you should have seen what the rakkasans did to their brand new barracks upon the return of the first afghanistan rotation. the bde CSM made EVERYONE live in the barracks till they were put back to the brand new state they were found in (doors broken, furniture busted, windows kicked out, spray painted walls). and everyone who had busted stuff had summarized article 15's (official punishment) and statements of charges (pay deducted straight, without you receiving it) to fix all the damage they had wreaked upon BRAND NEW barracks.

Wow, I hadn't heard about that.

What barracks are those?

when u come through gate 4 and head straight through towards the rakkasan shoppette, its the ones just to the left.

ahhh the infantry boys. strange how that word starts with infant....... lol

legal disclaimer: to anyone who is, was, always will be infantry, I have nothing against infantry, just a little humor

Spawn's ready for an ass kickin'.... just show up at his wrench fest. hehe

i've never minded the infantry cats, till they screw stuff up for the rest of us.

generally some of the better friends i've had in the military are combat arms guys.

that and you develop a rapport with the folks you support day in and day out. bend over for them, they get you cool toys.

That's what he said!

ok I just realized that was construed ENTIRELY WAYYYYY too wrong.

For CLARIFICATION *smartaleck!!!!* when you help out the infantry guys (pulling them out of firefights, IED's, CASEVACs, and just in general screwed up situations) and convince them that you are there 100% and you arent gonna leave them stranded, they tend to be very appreciative, and get us stuff like the mini clip on surefire's and stuff like that.

I'm sorry had to poke your ribs on that one. :patriot: Carry on!
