Rustys Air Tube?

I have one.
It's simple, mounts well, and looks decent with the powdercoating.
There's not much to it, but it does the job for a good price.

Without building some sort of isolation you will be sucking in hot air from right next to the exhaust manifold. My motor runs about 5-10* warmer in the summer(the cold air of winter seems to negate this effect) with the Rusty's tube than it does with the stock airbox. I am sure of this because I have switched back and forth a couple times. I run the rusty's tube because it allows me to put my ARB compressor where the airbox was, but since I got rid of the ARB, I'm probably going to go back to the stock airbox. Additionally, there is a lot of debate as to whether or not K&N filters are good for off-road because a lot of small dust particles are able to pass through it.

I ran Rusty's air tube for about a year and a half. I switched over to the K&N Kit for the heat shields. The heat shields make a bigger difference than you would think. You could always fab one up yourself I just happen to be all thumbs.

I've been running one for about a year and a half I think. The only difference I've noticed is the sucking/whistling noise. In the future I will build a heat shield and will expect more returns.

Thanks guys. Yeah, Safari, the compressor is the reason I was looking at it. I don't have an ARB, but it is almost identical, just a little bigger. I might try to make a tube that puts the filter near the intake hole in the front clip. If the tube makes your engine run hotter I definitely won't put it in because mine runs hot already.

i don't think that this kit makes your engine run any faster. I think you took their statement wrong. It draws in the warm air from next to the exhaust manifold instead of cool air. It is known that cool air = more HP so it's just a matter of the gains of it.

I have had it on for a year now and i like it alot....it opens up the airbox area, looks cool and gives you a little extra kick. There's a lot of writeups on how to make your own heat shield out on the net. I haven't done one yet but probobly will. the way you make it is by taking cardboard or something else (fiberglass etc.) and cover it with a windsheild sun cover. This will block a lot of heat.
