A friend (Brian@xjnation-THANKS Brian!)and I did the shock mount relocation on my rear axle yesterday. It worked great! Gojeep's website was (IS) a huge help for those of us WITHOUT endless credit or finances.
Thanks for the info and ideas!
For those that aren't aware, this is a site FULL of good stuff.GoJeep

you mean you chopped the mounts flush w/ the axle tube?
then replaced your long-travel shocks (assume from the RE kit) w/ shorter ones?

sounds like we've got similar setups, and i'd like to do this mod but have been concerned about the loss in travel...

Well not quite flush with the tube kept it about 1/2" down to leave enough material to get a good weld on the left axle tube piece..went pretty well and picked up about 2.5" of clearance

I'm actually running shocks from a 3 1/2" lift, so the shortening of the shock mount just made up for the travel I lost when I lifted another 1".;)
