What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

Didn’t realize that was a thing. That’s dumb. More work for mods. After getting yelled at for paying ahead another persons membership, and the lack of, well, anything from the chapter for years, there’s really no interest in paying up. No swag, no event last year, struggling for an event again this year, etc. Not being nasty, just sayin.

I agree 110%. Pretty lame that you cant even edit your posts unless you pay - this is literally the only site I'm on that is like that. (n)(n)

Yep, the area where there is the least bracing. I would weld one vertical or horizontal section at a time, let it cool completely, and then do the next weld. This is a picture of the truss upside down.

The weld you see on the inside there, I did to both sides, letting it cool in between. That weld was enough to warp it to where I had to

I got lucky I guess I welded the ever loving shit out of my center section artec 14. I welded it at my settings for 1/4 inch I can't remember how I chose to start the welding process or move around , but...lol...I welded that entire truss inside and out without stopping then let it cool and fit up my link mounts and same story non stop heat for about 15 minutes. . When I welded it to the axle I took my time couple inches on one side move to other side and repeat then wait until I could touch with bare hand comfortably , but the truss very BLUE when done .

I don’t know why it did my edit as a quote ?

Only paid members can edit.

I totally miss-spoke on that one. There is nothing I can find where a decision was made to not let Users edit posts. There were some comments in the Member's forum, but the only decision made by the BOD was to allow Members to edit all their posts in an effort to restore links broken by the Photobucket debacle.

I know Jeff posted in the support forum, no real answers there. I'm asking the question where it will get more attention.

I have 8 4x4 sheets of aluminium
14 - 10g so I decided to use a couple sheets to make filler panels for the cage after that I'll use a couple to make lids for the storage bin I plan to make out of the area that was the back seats . 20190320_112311.jpg

Nothing fancy. Swapped the turdy 5 out and put the 8.25 in. Locker, truss, 4.88’s and a good bit stronger axle for the use it will see. Very happy to have it under there and get better link setup in as well. Two tig passes and a mig over top. Used up some way over beef material we had sitting around for links. Nothing fancy. It’s just a 2.5l 3200# Tj 🤣🤣

Got the new tires in for the truck. Trimmed. In process of swapping both diffs for gears and rear locker.

Looking good, Mike

Man that does look good. Loving the LCG. Trimming gave it a pre-runner look, fenders look like flared fiberglass. I dig it!

What brand rubber?

How bad did those big tires affect the turning radius?

And why isn't the lovely Ash posing proudly by her amazing rig????

Nitto trail graps. Was going to try the Patagonia’s since the reviews have been great but they’ve been on backorder for forever.
We had to trim more but I knew that. I’m working with brother and a friend in cad to build arms to move axle forward about 1.5” and then it will be all gravy. Right now it’s about 75% turn but that’s not flexed (haha ifs flex) out.
Ash just had a little op done so she isn’t much in the mood. Can’t even get in it and drive it for roughly a month. Sorry.

I feel Ash's pain.... I caught a nasty flu 2/20, turned into multi-focal bacterial pneumonia. Spent 4 days in the hospital - probably waited too long and it got bad. I couldn't breathe - hit me over the period of about 6 hours. Caught another round of flu while in the hospital, 2 days with 103 fever. After the hospital, I was house bound for 3 weeks with an oxygen generator and 50' of hose.... I felt like an old war vet with COPD. I just got to feeling good enough to go back to work (desk duty) yesterday. Probably another 2-4 weeks of that.

Lungs still aren't clear, gotta see a pulmonary specialist to check to see if what's still in there is infected or if it's just gunk.

Massive suckage.

That does suck. Back to back too.
