hey, im thinkin its about time to make list of all the lingo we use here. it would be cool to make it a sticky too... so this is what i have figured out:
IIRC - If I Remember Correctly SPOBI- Stop Putting Out Bogus Information HTH - Hope This Helps IMO - In My Opinion IMHO - In My Humble Opinion CE - Check Engine TC - Transfer Case TPS - Throttle Position Sensor NSS - Neutral Safety Switch CPS - Camshaft Position Sensor TIA - Thanks In Advance BTW - By The Way ROTFL- Rolling On The Floor Laughing NHV - Noise, Vibration, and Harshness BPE - Bar Pin Eliminator LCA - Lower Control Arm UCA - Upper Control Arm CV/dshaft - Not a true Constant Velocity as it would seem, but actualy a near constant velocity, double-cardan-style universal joint shaft, commonly refered to as a CV joint. there are no true Constant Velocity shafts on Cherokee's unless someone has gone way outside of themselves and made something to use one. TSB - Technical Service Buliten FSM - Factory Service Manuel HO - High Output VSS - Vehicle Speed Sensor IAC - Idle Air Control - also refers to Idle Control Vavle OBD-II - On Board Diagonostics (Type 2) ODB-I - On Board Diagonostics (type 1) welp thats all i got, feel free to comment and add more... just trying to help others out... |

Once again, it's important not to extrapolate from your year and model to assume that the same specs apply to all years. Some of the very early Cherokees (and XJ Wagoneers) did use true constant velocity joints in the front drive shafts and front axles. Commonly referred to as the "beer can on a popsicle stick" drive shafts. This is the primary reason I wish people would refer to the double cardan drive shafts as "double cardan" drive shafts rather than as "CV" drive shafts -- to avoid confusion, since Jeep did use both and often the questions are asked without stating what year and model is being asked about.
