Looking to put a winch on my 2000 XJ. Not sure what winch to get. Not sure whether to get cable or synthetic rope. My Jeep is being built into a overland rig. Looking for 9000 to 10,000.
Badlands new warn killer is kinda the new badass winch on a budget.
Ive had a old 9k engo for 3 or 5 years.
A badlands 9k would save some money
I'd like to upgrade mine to the apex or possibly a warn 8274. The 8274 is probly the only warn id want over a cheap winch. Ive had a couple slip through my hands over the years. Someday a 8274 will find me.
I run a warn m8 with steel cable. American made and it's lightweight.... If that coupled with a snatch block doesn't get me out I'll leave it where it's at with the keys in it lol
I think I bought the m8 new for 660 iirc.
I picked up an old school (I think 1980's) Warn M8000 with steel cable for $300. Still works like new. I wouldn't be surprised if it lasts another 40 years.
I'll agree warn quality has went down.... I had to rewire the control box due to relocation, but I found one of the wires leaving the control box was only hand tight ... Didn't need a wrench to take the lug off..
