so my 87 Cherokee 4.0 has a clicking noise coming form the front of the valve cover. i drove it around for about a good three months, it dissapeared for a while and now its back. ive heard that the factory exhaust manifold has factory defects. and i heard that the motor will "click" if the exhaust manfold has cracks in it. i dont think its the lifters, i keep the oil changed and i dont really pound the crap out of it. plus the motor only has 150000 miles on it. could anybody please lend me some advice, thanks. :flame:

pvc valve? maybe pull it out while its on and see if its a good suction it might be a lifter

I say lifter! My 98 has lifter tick, been there for over 30000 miles with no problems....Exaust would be more pronounced.
