Fuel Economy-4cyl vs. 6cyl

I'm curious about the fuel economy on the 97-01 XJs when it comes to the four banger vs the I6. Does anybody have any stats or knowledge on how they perform when compared to each other? How much wimpier is the 4cyl vs the 6cyl? I'm trying to help my brother find a Jeep to buy and am exploring all the options out there.

Can't speak to the fuel economy, but when I bought my 98 new, I test drove both. The 4 banger had pretty weak acceleration. Not much fun to drive.

The hassle is that the 4 banger hood, radiator, and support are different and won't work with the 4.0L. You can retrofit (I did it) but it is intimidating for most. You also have to massage the firewall.

That red jeep probly worth buying just to resell.
you can get 4 for that easy.

nice old jeeps starting to become hard to find.
