'97 XJ, AX15, 3rd gear shift fork problem

Many of you know I own a repair shop in WA. I've got a customer's rig here I'm having problems with, here's a copy of my post from the IATN board. Any help would be appreciated:

This is another long winded post. We normally are
considered the "Jeep Experts" in our area, but this one has
us puzzled. This Jeep originally came to us completely
stock. We installed a 3.5" lift kit with transfer case drop
kit.(Rubicon Express). Approximately 100 miles later, the
vehicle came back and was popping out of third gear. You
accelerate, step on the clutch, goes into 3rd fine, and let
out the clutch, it wants to pop out of gear. We thought
just a coincidence. We removed trans., had our trans. guy
teardown and inspect, he couldn't find ANYTHING wrong other
than funny wear on the 3rd gear shift fork. We repaird and
reinstalled transmission, everything was fine. Customer
left, came back 100 miles or so later with the SAME
problem. We again removed trans., toredown and inspected,
same problem, worn shift fork. Tried replacing bearings
thinking something was moving. Reassembled with new shift
fork again, worked fine, vehicle left, returned with same
problem 100 miles later. We thought the lift and transfer
case drop was possibly putting too much pressure on the
shifter and causing the wear on the shift fork. SO, we
installed an aftermarket slip yoke eliminator kit and CV
driveline so we could put the transfer case and
transmission back up in their original position. We
obviously installed a new 3rd gear shift fork AGAIN. We
were confident at this point we had fixed the issue because
I'd seen shift boots cause these types of problems on late
model Wranglers when lifted. Anyways, now the vehicle is
back again with the exact same problem and we are
absolutely stumped. Any ideas?

Thanks, sorry for the long winded post.
