Ranger Greg has asked that we schedule a work project in September.

He has the 19th, 25th or 26th open if we are interested.

Make your choice?

Saturdays are better for me. So that would be the 25th.

The trail is 2N04, which is just East of Baldwin lake (on the East side of Big Bear), it runs from 2N01 to highway 18 (or from 18 to 2N01 if you wanna run it that way :))

How does it compare to Holcomb and JB?

Well, 2N04 would be called an extremly difficult trail, if you're blind. It's an easy trail, but it's scenic and not very heavily traveled. What we will be doing to it is erosion control, trash pick-up, and any "yard work" that needs to be done. I drove down it last time I was up that way and it's in great shape.

Will we get to work with dynamite to get rid of any excess erosion?? :D In any case is there a specific list of what needs to be done to it now?

I'll get a list of the needed improvements from Greg.

This trail (road) is an easy (green) run.

It does have a few features that make it important:

It crosses Arraste Creek (it has water year round, to soak your feet).
It runs around a meadow (very scenic and green in the spring).
It runs through trees (shade in the summer).
It is very close to two group campgrounds (a much needed travel route for the camping public).
It is very close to the Pontiac Sluice / Onyx Loop / Heartbreak Ridge area, and a few very good black diamond trails (making it fun for us due to the proximity).

We need some more poll participation to confirm or sway the 25th, so post up if you have not (and do not hesitate to post if you want to change your vote).

I can't guarantee I'll be there, but the 25th is the most likely date for me. My wife's having our baby a little before then (14th) but she'll probably wanna visit her family in Joshua Tree that weekend...;)

From Ranger Greg ...

---

If the club would like to set the 25th of September as the date, that would
be great.

Ten things come to mind for the initial maintenance on 2N04.

- Post road number (2N04) at Hwy. 38.

- Brush back overgrown vegetation (shoulder to shoulder).

- Removing any litter.

- Clearing out all of the side drains.

- Inventory the unclassified roads.

- Breaking up fire rings.

- Inventory all hazard trees.

- Remove all rock slide material from bench cut east of creek.

- Repair any breaches in existing fence lines.

- Rock road xing on Arrastre Creek.

Please let me know if we have a firm date.

Can we meet at the Ranger Station at 0900?

Thanks Ed!

This should help with an idea of the needed tasks.

Sept. is RIGHT in the middle of my next buildup on my xj, but if I am not working on it that weekend, and I can steal a seat in someone's XJ I could make it.

I'll be watching the thread.

I,m on the East coast right now, will vote next week when I get to a calendar for the right time zone.

I would like to come out on the 25th but can do the 19th also either will do.

I read September 25th is the favored date (with 10 votes).

Can someone else cinform the pool result (a second, for the record)?

Is an SoCal NAXJA Officer available for this date (not necessary, unless required by the bylaws)?

I will confirm this date when I read an answer.

Confirmed!

I do believe that this is Sequoia's puppy, but if he can't be there, I will.
