28' of 5" channel

4' of 3"x1/4" angle

4' of 2"x1/4" angle

1' of 2"x1/8" angle

1 8"x3/4" circle

2' of 1" solid rod

3" of 1 1/2"od 3/4"id tube

That BOOO is well deserved. I think it olny appropriate for you to exPRESS your sentiment.

That's a lot of weight (we bill by the pound), with the cost of steel it kind of makes a H-F unit enticing. What size wire did you use?

This is getting riDICKulous.....

Wait, that doesn't work......:gonnablow

.035

I'd bet the HF unit gives before mine.....

Plus I got the fun of designing and building mine.....

Plus Plus, no HF for over 150 miles.....

Plus Plus Plus, I got the fun of designing and building mine.... Did I say that already?

Were you under PRESSure to get it built in a timely manner?

No, I'm recovering from knee surgery. I wasn't to go to work, Doc said nothing about not going to the garage......

66% done with the plate break that goes along with this press.

But I was tired, so I just came inside without taking photos....

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be overbearing or opPRESSive. I think i'ts a cool project, and hell for stout.

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the GMAW process, still playing around with it. I have to get used to how high the bead sets.

I work outdoors so it's all SMAW; 70 series for the tensile strength. We use a flux-core wire for sheet work. I think it's .078, they decided .045 wasn't heavy enough.

Now, go take your pills and behave. :looney:

I hate to BREAK it to you guys....

But I had more PRESSing reasons to build this...

But on to the finished photos.....

With springs...

Dude you have got to get yer arse over to Harbor Frieght and pick up an Air Over Hydraulic Cylinder. You arms are gonna fall off.

If I had a HF with in 150 miles, I'd probably bought the press there...

but yea, that would be a nice upgrade.....

Harbor Freight has a web site. Shipping is billed by cost, probably less than $15 for the air powered hydraulic cylinder.
