CEL: P0700

tranny code, had it scanned at autozone today.
also said there was one other that was most likely tripped by this one but failed to give me the code for it.

anyone have info on where to start troubleshooting?

rig is '98 A4/231/4.0

P0700 is a generic trans code. If you pull a code from the TCM you get a more specific DTC.

I fought the same thing and you really don't know what it is unless you use a DRB scanner to read the TCU code directly. My local dealer wanted $60 just to read the code.

Got that code on our 99' when we first got it.
I know its general, but on our rig, we changed the filter and fluid and the light never came on again.

Again, the 99' has been a tow rig and has had a hard life.

Does this help? It came from Mitchell Manuals Online, and I trimmed out the main heading--P0700. The second picture is supposed to be those DTCs that relate ONLY to the tranny.
