Re: XJ No start. Getting code P1694

Depending on the year, the terminology changes--CPS/CKP is the speed sensor aka crank sensor.

For some years the synch sensor in the distributor is also called the CPS or CMP.

did you have issues before the CPS replacement?

also, just because you replaced it does not mean it's good. Their business model allows for a certain number of defects to be returned as a cost of business. It's cheaper to replace a few bad ones than it is to do proper QC at the factory.

99 Cherokee, had "no bus" msg, code P1694, checked terminals and replaced CPS, could it be the computer?

Re: XJ No start. Getting code P1694

Bump lol

But here's the deal. I have the same problems as before as everyone else. Jeep just cranks and won't fire. But I also have the e fan coming on once I turn the key to 'on'? I replaced the cps and still does the same thing but the e fan will surge at time. And the rear o2 sensor relay clicks? Thinking possible bad o2 sensor? Unplugged the wires and all looked good. Really stamped here. Any advice is appreciated!
