Clunk on Startup and Soft Clutch

I don't know if these two things are related, I doubt it? For about the last month when I start up my truck it makes a loud "clunk" from under the drivers seat it sounds like. This happens about half the time. It is worrying me because I've never heard it before. Ideas?
As for the clutch, I had a new one put in about 3 years ago, and it was pretty stiff then. I drive every day in steep hills and now my clutch is very soft, can it be adjusted or is this a sign it needs replacing?

Thanks for any help!

Oh, and its a 5 speed manual. Maybe the gears are slightly engaged when I'm starting? Anyone got any ideas?
