Team MAD build

2014 KOH race trim ready to go. Full tank (22gal) spares, tool bag, D60 front, 14 bolt rear and large body shocks. 4785lbs. Tons make it heavy but it makes us not worry about broke axle shafts. Its a trade off.

I really hope to come in at this weight.

Keep in mind were on 35s and shaved weight by getting rid of the stuff like: doors, hatch, glass, dash, interior, ac/heat and went to C-rok bumpers which are strong yet light considering.

We were at 4575lbs with the Rockjock 60 full 8lug, and 14B shaved rear with truss, and full 22gal cell, ready to race minus driver/co driver, and spare, at Glen Helen last year.

Hey 4634....bring that XJ to a Jeepspeed race and get a ton of exciting seat time for only $800 entry and gets you a free set of General Tires. You cant beat that. Go to www.jeepspeed.com for info. Thanks.

Jeepspeedchief,
Thanks for the invite however no-offense $800 for one race that our car was not built for is not marketable for my sponsors. Sure a free set of tires that "I would have to run" is great but I would honestly only use them for that event then would go back to my Goodyears. Plus running product decals as outlined in the rule book that I do not run is not fair to my sponsors who support me and our racing program. Again it would be fun but I would be throwing money away to be beat. At least with Dirt Riot or Ultra 4 I get to race in a class the car was designed for and have a fighting chance.

Forgot to mention you would be running in Jeepspeed Cup Class 3700. Hope to see you soon.
This would be the other argument as why I wouldn't run Jeepspeed in my current car or configuration. From my quick glance (and quick so excuse me if I'm wrong) but the 3700 class already beats me in suspension alone and in a desert race suspension is paramount. I 'am limited to 14" travel non hydraulic bumps and one shock per corner. Whereas I believe the 3700 is allowed hydraulic bumps and bypasses. Plus going through the floor allows for better shock placement and more travel depending on the rules. I would be beat before the flag dropped unless every 3700 car had a catastrophic failure which I would not wish on. Plus when you mentioned the jeepspeed challenge on here and pirate the rules make it seem as if the 4600 ultra 4 cars would fall under the 1700 class. At least 1700 is more of a stock class minus some suspension components over the 4600 class.

Its on our list of things to do ;)
Would be fun indeed, just hard to sell for us and our sponsors. If you guys do it though will be cheering for our fellow 4600 class brotha.

Been awhile since Moab. Literally got home and unloaded the truck and trailer and parked the XJ on the side of the house where it still sits. That's about to change with Colorado Dirt riot fast approaching my old man and I will be tearing down the car and doing a full prep/fix. Utah feed us our lunch so we have plenty of work to but will get it. Stay tuned.

So after our race in Utah during EJS week the car was thrashed and has sat on the side of the house. That was until my dad came out and helped me fix, repair and prep the car for our next race June 14th-16th at RAM offroad park in Co. Springs, Co. Ut was a disaster of a race and broke or dented everything. We ripped break lines, broke inner fenders, lost the battery. So my dad and I had our work cut out for us.

We started with relocating the battery from the busted inner fender to behind the passenger seat behind the fire wall. We had some plate and bent it up then welded it to the door frame, roll cage and tied it into the sliders/stiffeners. We then welded the ballistic fabrication battery holder to that. After that we secured some large 2ga wire and ran new master battery kill switch and battery cable leads. After we picked up some 1ga leads for the winch and stretched all the auxiliary wires as well running everything along the bottom of the cage.

Battery and cables. Rear tube door protects and covers battery.

After that my dad went to work his magic and make the bent and twisted sheet metal straight so we could recreate the inner fender.
Once the fenders were lining up we went ahead and welded that up and used some plate to tie the two pieces together and then used some angle iron to tie it in to the frame stiffeners.

missing part of it...

all back together with no heavy battery residing on it anymore. (not the best picture, I apologize.)

Seeing as my dad and I are not welders or fabricators this was a huge task for us but were super proud of what we were able to fix together. It was a learning experience we both enjoyed, however after that we pressed on to the items we know how to do like swapping all the fluid, replaced and or cleaned all filters. Even beat this dent out of the transmission pan.

The car is fully prepped and ready to go minus our persistent sputtering at a certain RPM. Tired of throwing money at chasing it so learning how to drive with it instead. Next race is in T-minus 6 days!
