Oil Consumption

Yep, me again..... My 1992 Cherokee Sport goes thru oil like ***** thru a goose!!! To date, I haven't found any obvious leaks and it doesn't appear to be burning.....could the converter be hiding the smoke?? Anyone else have unexplained leaks??? Any of you great folks ever served onboard USS America CV-66??? I did, from 1981 thru 1984.

Oil consumption on my rig: neglegible.

Yes, the catylitic converter could be reacting the oil smoke so you don't see it unless it consumes a lot. This isin't great for the cat though. Are you sure theres no slow leaks, there are some typical spots on the XJ, including the rear seal, oil filter housing and valve cover (in back). I guess it could burn oil through leaking valve oil seals. You should pull a spark plug to see if there are deposits on it that indicate oil burining.
