Unique telltale signs of fuel pump dying?

I've seen that result a lot on the returnless system-- I wouldn't be buying a pump based on those videos.

When my fuel pump died in my 93, it was SCREAMING so loud.

It died on my x country trip, first real warning in the middle of nowhere AZ climbing a grade. Wouldn't restart until we used both 5 gal tanks on both jeeps to fill the fuel tank. I had about 1/2 tank when it happened. Then it was fine until Utah, starting SCREAMING one day, then I was doing 65 on the highway and it sputtered and died without wanting like I was out if fuel. Couldn't restart it so I jumped the wires on the resistor under the good for more volts and got it running (while it was screaming even louder) to get me 20 minutes away to a NAPA and I swapped it in the parking lot.

Idk if it'll be the same on a 97 but yea.
