Tips on doing front axle ujoints?

other stuff to do... change the front diff oil maybe? while you have the diff cover off and the shafts out, pull the carrier and replace the seals if they're leaking (if they're not, be very careful R&R-ing the axle shafts so as to not start a leak!)
if you need new brake pads, now's a good time to take care of them. lube the balljoints & tie rod ends.
