I am going to be leading a run though the Mojave Trail April 16 - 17. We have a pretty small group and would not mind a few more rigs.

A few of us are staying in hotels friday night and I am still waiting to see if anyone else is going to camp at the trail head friday night before I get a room somewhere.

We are running it East to West.

Let me know if you are interested.

I just ran it the 24th - 26th of March. We had 7 rigs. We started on theI-15 and ended in Laughlin.
It was in the low 30's at night and mid 60's during the day, still cold in the shade. The water crossings were less than 6" deep. It looked like the railroad crews had been there recently doing some track maintenance and hauled in sand and gravel to fill the water crossings.
The dry lake was a muddy mess. The rest of the trail was fun as it always is.

Enjoy

Did you cross Soda Lake or bypass it?

Sounds fun, I'll plan on it. Neither of my jeeps are running good right now, the XJ has two busted shocks and a torn off steering stabilizer, and the CJ5 is in the middle of a spring swap which I hope to get done this weekend. So I might be in a CJ5 not an XJ.

Been wanting to run that road for a while, if I come I'll definetely be camping at the trailhead, gas is expensive enough without having to pay for a hotel.

Sounds cool.

You don't need steering stabilizer, I have not had one for 6 months and did mojave last nov without one.

Shocks might be good to have.

I know, I ran mine without for a couple months, but between tires that are never quite balanced, wheel bearings that I can never get quite tight enough, and a somewhat loose suspension, it's just a lot more comfortable with one on those long drives.

Almost got the front of the CJ together tonight.

Got the springs done today on my CJ5! Maybe I'll build a tire carrier this week so I have more room in the back, but as it is I'm good to go next weekend. You got an address or GPS coordinates of a campsite at the trailhead?

Here is a map to the trail head, and where those of us that are going to camp will be camping at.

GPS Cords:
+35° 3' 15.77", -114° 41' 9.56"

Communications:

CB: 27
2 Meter: 146.525

Repeaters: (unconfirmed to be linked)
Ludlow 147.285 + 151.4
Barstow 147.780 + 151.4
Newberry Springs 146.100 - 151.4

I would say meet there 8:30 and be ready to leave no later than 9am...
Remember that if you are staying with someone to be on the correct time zone with AZ a few miles away cellphones like to decide what time zone you are on.

What To Bring:

* Good Spare tire
* Extra Drinking Water
* 5 Gallons Fuel (optional)
* Food for two days
* Sunscreen
* Camera
* Bundle of Firewood

No issues, just filled up once at Baker and didn't have to stop again.

I do have a squealing bearing under the hood somewhere, but I won't be able to check on it until I can start my engine again.
