For those of you which may have aftermarket ignition systems(MSD, Jacobs, etc)
My 91 decided that it did not want to start.
I had spark. So, I went on a wild goose chase for fuel issues. Fuel delivery turned out to be good.
I have a MSD6 installed. For the heck of it I decide to put it back to the stock setup. As soon as I did that the spark went away. I was able to repeat this with consistent results.
When I checked the resistance of the primary, and secondary all checked-out OK.
Once I removed the coil, I could actually see cracks in the body of the coil. That is what was weakening the spark. Despite the spark that the MSD was putting out, verses no spark with stock, it was not enough to cause ignition.
So the moral of the story is that if you have an aftermarket ignition, and the coil is leaky(electrically) that spark that you are getting maybe too weak to cause ignition.
