My father has an old 86 F250 2x4, cept the tranny, and rear end its done. He doesn't want to scrap it, so I am trying to give him some options.
I have said to buy a newer truck and drop the tranny and rear end into it. He is set on this tranny and rear end being the end all... pack rat that he is he hates getting rid of anything.
Tranny, C4 I think, has bull low and is bullet proof till this point
Rear, don't think its the 9"... looks like a real big D44, since I don't know much about axles I thought maybe a D60, but no idea.
Anyone have any ideas... and scrapping does count, he just needs some convincing.
I was also wondering, what makes a 1/2 ton dif from a 3/4 or 1 ton?
if its just the axles, tranny, and suspension, can we just buy a newer F150 and put his parts into it to upgrade it to 3/4 ton?
