91 xj almost overheating?

hey i have a 91 xj with the 4.0ho and it runs hot all the time. I put in a new temp sensor, 160* t-stat, highflow t-stat housing, and new coolant and it stil runs at the same temp (between 210 and the red line). it takes longer to get up there but it eventually does.

I was looking at the radiator and i would say 50% of the fins are gone, im guessing thats the problem but i just wanted to see what you guys think.

thanks,
-Jesse

Re: 91 xj almost overheating?

I would say it's time for a new radiator. A number of people on this site like the CSF alum radiators. I would do away with the 160 degree thermostat, XJ's are designed to run around 190, which is why 195 thermostats come stock. I've dealt with the guys at DPG Offroad a few times in the past and have always been very impressed with there service and good prices and they support too.

GONE?
As eroding,.. gone? if so you have no other choice but to replace it and i would up grade the replacement!

If the fins are just full of trash or maybe the a/c condenser fins or full of trash or folded over, a little bit of time and patience will help the problem

Flash.
