My new job is crazy!!!!!

I started a new job last week, and its in a numbed down version, I am a Farm tractor mechanic. Had a few crazy jobs so far, but this one I had to take pictures of and show!

This is the tractor, its a 50klbs Quadtrac

My job is to rebuild part of the front axle. This is whats crazy. ITS HUGE!

This is it pulled out. That is a 2 foot long torque wrench on it for reference.

Thats all, just wanted to share this cuz i thought it was cool.

I'm betting its not really that small. Looks like at least two inches to me. Also can you say gear reduction? I bet there isn't alot of load on the input because the gear reduction is huge.

I dont know. . .Ive heard they're compared to a d30? you might be all right with 33's but 35's and you're just waiting for trouble
 
HA.. its actually alot of work for a simple part. They didnt keep up on maintenance and have to change out some roller bearings. Lots of planitary reduction unitS in there. Two in the "diff" part and one on each "hub". That pinion is about 35 lbs. Small is one thing it isnt!
