Winch wins it for me, I can use it for stuff other than jeeping.
It can also be a:
Bench Vise, tubing bender, hoist (not reccomended, but it works), fence stretcher, car loader, timber hauler vehicle extractor, and that's not nearly all. Most bang for my buck.
As far as best "off road" modification it's got to be tires followed by lockers, the two go hand in hand.

1) SYE, just cause it was so easy and the DS worries were then over
