Oil sending unit FUBAR?

Hey guys, on my 85 XJ (with 2.5L) My oil pressure gauge spikes up way above 80psi, and just stays there as the jeep is running. I don't hear any horrible noises or see anything wrong so it has to be the sending unit, right?

First, check the wire at the sender to confirm that it isn't broken, and that it makes a good connection. If the wire is broken or has fallen off the terminal, I think for your year it pegs the needle.
