Just back from a 1000 mile Death Valley trip in my and my friends XJ. jeeps ran good this time ( over thanksgiving on a simular trip my idler pulley ate it on the trail, friend made an 8 hour round trip to buy the last on in Lone Pine, the day before Thanksgiving, so that trip didnt see us doing the whole trail)
We did Mengle Pass, stopped by the Barker Ranch the Manson hide out. explored some mines, check out ruins. hiked. Weather was nice, snow on the ground. Steaks on the grill every night. excellent ground clearance and traction! every body got a turn at driving off road, even the kids (20 year old kids)
Good trip. This is our second of hopefully many offroad trips since getting the Jeeps.

ps the new Durango steering gear box worked great.
