Figured I’d start a bit of a build thread for shits n grins and maybe get some ideas for the interior, which I’m tackling next.

Last October picked up a rust free super clean 1999 XJ classic with:

4.0 with 125k miles
Auto
NP 242
Chrysler 8.25

Amassed all the components and bumpers I wanted to install over the winter.

Rear lift ended up being about 5” over stock specs. Used the ACOS to take front lift up about 4.5” over stock. Hopefully once The rear settles it’ll be about even.

OME leaf springs
OME front coils
JKS ACOS adjustable coil spacers
Bilstein 5100 shocks
Liquid iron industries leaf spring slider boxes
ZJ tie rod upgrade, all new TREs
OME steering stabilizer
Adjustable track bar
Ruffstuff “the cure”
IRO hack and tap SYE
Steering box brace

Logan off-road front rock bumper
Goliath off-road tear rock bumper
Jcr tail light boxes w LEDs
Trucklites LED headlights
2 led flood lights in front bumper
2 led appt lights in front bumper.
American rock rods hood vents
Napier fender flares
Monstalined hypochromic (same as old Toyota FJ color Cygnus white)
15x8 ion alloy wheels
32x11.5r15 kumho mt51

Thinking of having the seats upholstered in camel leather. Anyone else have their seats reupholstered?

Good looking rig! How do you like the leaf sliders? I dig the idea just don't hear a lot about them.

Everything looks nice! What did the bumper mounts look like?

The front bumper is tied in it the unibody with two brackets that you bolt up to the unibody and the bumper mounts to them.

The rear just mounts to the factory location.

Those rear mounts are totally inadequate! The front sounds iffy also and those d-rings are not centered on the framerail.

I’m not super worried about it. This isn’t a trail rig, not even a daily driver, just more or less a project I wanted to tackle. It’ll see some camping trips and the like, but I don’t foresee myself in a situation where I’ll have to use those recovery points.

I like them. Smooths the on-road ride out nicely combined with the OME leaf springs. They’re the bolt in ones.

Nice! I'll be interested to see how they work for you over time. If I ever get back to building a rig I wouldn't mind throw these in.

You say that, but I would at least get some rocker protection on there!
