41 error code
Alternator Field Control error...
OK.. what the Hell is that? It's running and charging OK. (I think) Should I replace the alternator? Voltage gauge reads mormal. Help?? Go the obligatory 12 code too! Searches show, cables and grounds, and alternator. Anyone have a more definitive?? Last edited by Rocketman; August 6th, 2005 at 07:15. |

Re: 41 error code
An hour of scrubbing grounds, especially the neg battery cable grounds to the block and the fender did the trick. NOT ONLY THAT... my volts read straight up 14v steady now. They used to fluctuate between 9 and 14, constantly.
Amazing what something so simple and so neglected can do. I may be imagining things but my idle seems smoother as well. SAD PART of all this, if a Neo-Jeeper took it to some mechanic they'd be leaving with a new alternator, or worse a new computer and a lot of money missing out of their bank account. |

Re: 41 error code
Not if they took it to a mechanic who knows what he's doing.
